Yes, with all the brouhaha over 'animal rights' it does make you wonder, why is castration of both male and female dogs accepted without a whimper!
If it really was only a question of preventing unwanted pups, tubal ligationa and vasectomies would be an alternative. These operations can be easily done. A wolf rescue organization that provides a home for unwanted wolves and wolf hybrids that were given up because they do not generally make good pets, allows their animals to remain whole by use of tubal ligation and vasectomy. So the unwanted pup argument has a big hole in it. There must be another reason so many people destroy the wholeness of their dogs.
